Here We Go Again – Maine Shooting

Last night a gunman carried out a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine. We don’t have a lot of details yet, and some of the early estimates of injured and killed have been revised downward. This situation is very fluid right now with the gunman still at large.

In spite of this we are already seeing many calls for an AR ban, Gun bans, stricter gun control laws, etc. One of my favorite was from Gov Gruesome Newsom of California saying that Maine does not require a 3-day waiting period for gun purchases. Hey, Governor. We don’t even know when the gunman acquired his weapon yet.

We are watching and waiting for the smoke to clear before we really comment on this situation and would recommend our leaders do the same. Let’s get the facts and try to determine what can be done to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future. Knee jerk reactions like Gov Newsom’s do not help the situation and only serve to further the political divide in the gun debate.

While 1 person went on a rampage with 1 gun last night, over 400 million other guns in the US were not involved in any kind of mass shooting.
