Indiana Woman Shoots Abuser

A woman used a gun against a man assaulting her in Greenfield, Indiana on December 20, 2023. The 44-year-old male suspect was shot in the arm while allegedly assaulting her inside a car traveling near a grocery store. Police believe this appears to be a domestic dispute.

After the woman shot her attacker, she was able to get away and drove herself to a nearby hospital. The male subject was treated at the scene and then taken to a hospital in Indianopolis. He was later released and then arrested and he was taken to the Hancock County jail.

The woman already had a protective order in place against the suspect. It is cases like these that illustrate just how effective guns can be when used by a person defensively. According to the Gun Violence Archive, so far in 2023 there have been 1,149 reported defensive gun uses in the US. The one statistic that keeps being reported from this organization are the 642 (as of 12/21/2023) “Mass Shootings”. By reporting only the mass shooting statistics and ignoring the defensive uses, we don’t get to see how guns can and are a good thing.
