Assault Pivot

Our leaders have made a crucial pivot in their war on the Second Amendment. If you are paying attention you may have noticed that they are now saying “Assault Weapons” instead of “Assault Rifles”. With this change in language is also a change in the scope of their goals. They no longer want to only ban the AR-15 and similar platform rifles. This new push adds most semi-automatic pistols as well. If you need further proof look at H.R.1808 from the 2022 session of Congress. Looking at the definitions in the bill, the scope of what they call an assault weapons is very broad indeed and would ban a very large portion of the most popular guns in America, not just the vilified AR-15.

Thankfully, this legislation died in the 117th session of congress, but they tipped their hand and we need to be ready because you know they are going to keep trying. What is worse is that failed bills such as these often times end up resurrected or lumped into other bills in order to be hidden. Worse yet, they will sometimes include it in completely non-related bills so that they can point to their opposition and say they voted against the bill to score political points.
