New Mexico Governor Suspends 2nd Amendment Zion Patriot, September 9, 2023October 16, 2023 New Mexico’s Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, issued a “public health emergency order” on Friday, September 8, 2023 calling to suspend the second amendment to the Constitution in Albuquerque and Bernalillo county. The Governor claims her order, valid for 30-days with the option to renew, is her right under the public health guidelines as Governor to suspend the concealed and open carry of firearms within Bernalillo County, which includes the city of Albuquerque. She claims that the constitution was not meant to be absolute. She claims the ban is necessary due to, “recent shooting deaths of a thirteen-year-old girl on July 28, a five-year-old girl on August 14, and an eleven-year-old boy on September 6, as well as two mass shootings this year.” When asked if she expected criminals to obey this executive order she actually said, “No”. But she thinks this action will “send a message”. What is truly sad is the cognitive dissonance shown by the New Mexico Governor here. She expects that somehow law abiding citizens being restricted from their right to bear arms outside of their home will somehow make the city safer while admitting at the same time that criminals will not follow this rule. This is the government our founding fathers warned us about. 2A News Gun Control Politics
